New Member Breakfast Provides Powerful Connections

The Hampton Roads Chamber is a powerful economic partner for our members, and they know it. That’s why business owners like Antoine Curry make sure Chamber events make it on to their busy calendars.  “I am new to the business world,” said  Curry,  owner of 1-800-Water Damage in Virginia Beach, “ I wanted to get a good foundation of networking and mentoring in place so that I could help other businesses as well as them helping me.”

Curry was one of nearly 60 new and current members who attended the Hampton Roads Chamber’s “New Member Welcome Breakfast” on August 9th at Sweetwater Cuisine in Virginia Beach. As a new member of the Chamber, Curry said  “It was absolutely awesome! I thought the networking and communicating with the other businesses in the room was extremely valuable.”

As the Chamber continues to work diligently for the business community throughout Hampton Roads these events provide an opportunity for local business people to connect with other like-minded leaders in the community and gain valuable connections.  “People do business with people they know, like, and trust,” said Chamber Membership Director, Joel Perkins,  “and Chamber events like the New Member Welcome Breakfasts  are among the best opportunities to build meaningful relationships.”  Krista Kalweit, CEO of MERCO, shares these sentiments. “We expanded rapidly and wanted to get [our name] out there.  We felt [ The Hampton Roads Chamber] was the best avenue, to start locally.”
