What are your business's core values, goals, and overall mission?  We have two sets of clients…listeners and advertisers.  Our listener mission is to provide great music, relevant and compelling content, local information and a sense of community.  Our advertiser mission is to build and provide superior quality radio stations that can be used by businesses to target potential customers…our listeners.

Share some unique facts and business history? What makes your business stand out?  Our radio stations are heritage stations in this market…we have been rock stations for over 45 years.  This is important because it means consistency for both listeners and advertisers.  Mike Arlo, the midday personality on 106.9 The Fox, has been rocking Hampton Roads for over 40 years at both of our stations.  Rick Rumble, FM99 morning drive personality, hosts the only fully produced local entertainment show in the state of Virginia.  Rick has been with FM99 for over 20 years.

What products or services do you offer companies or individuals?  Our stations have evolved into multi-platform advertising mediums.  Yes, we still have airwaves and we also provide so much more:  digital campaigns, lead generation platforms, event marketing, interactive and web based opportunities, text and e-blast databases, social media, research projects including perceptuals, etc.  All these elements can be combined in a variety of ways or used individually to meet each advertiser’s goals and budgets.

What are the greatest obstacles and/or challenges that your business has faced?  Advertisers today are overwhelmed by choices for advertising.

How have you and your business overcome them?  “Yesterday” we had radio salespeople.  “Today” our sales staff is trained and developed to be fully capable marketing consultants.

What accomplishments are you most proud of?

  1. We’ve got the best team in the market
  2. The level of quality in our products and services

What do you see for the future of your business?  Steady evolution of new products and services so we can continue to provide full turn-key marketing solutions for our advertisers.

Why are you a member of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce?  The advocacy work is critical to Hampton Roads businesses.  If local business is thriving, then we all thrive and we all win.  We choose to be a member because we need to pull our weight.  It wouldn’t be fair to reap the rewards of what the Chamber does for Hampton Roads businesses and not be part of the process.  The networking is awesome, too!
