The Cordish Companies Selects Experienced Staff to Oversee the Success of Waterside District

The Cordish Companies has selected Glenn Sutch and Courtney Wolfe to manage Waterside District as President and Private Events Director, respectively. The top-notch duo bring a combined 40+ years of business, management and operations experience to Waterside District from their backgrounds in the food and beverage, entertainment and tourism industries.

Waterside District President Glenn Sutch, currently residing in the city of Norfolk, brings extensive business and entertainment experience to Waterside. He will oversee all aspects of Waterside District which will ultimately employ about 1,000 people. Sutch will play a key role in ensuring the ongoing success of this destination for the community and visitors to the region, as the dynamic, mixed-use development rolls out best-in-class dining, events and festivals.

Sutch comes to Waterside District from Xfinity Live!, southern Philadelphia’s four plus acre dining, entertainment and retail district. As the Chief Operating Officer for one of the largest entertainment complexes in the east coast, Glenn was responsible for overseeing more than 1,000 employees and over $30 million in annual revenue. Sutch also has an extensive entrepreneurial background having worked as the Vice President of his family’s business, quickly growing to multiple companies as multi-million dollar enterprises.

Private Events Director Courtney Wolfe, a Hampton Roads native, will be responsible for managing the extensive private event opportunities available at Waterside District, as well as provide support for various marketing activities. The unique combination of Norfolk’s waterfront and Waterside District’s many options for hosting events both large and small will allow the community and businesses to create memorable, impactful events and celebrations once the venue opens in April 2017.

Wolfe started her career managing restaurants and hotels in Virginia Beach. As Director of Sales for the Chesapeake Conference Center she quickly became an early supporter of local tourism, laying the groundwork for the city’s tourism department. Courtney spent the next ten years working with former Congressmen Forbes’ campaign, where she was responsible for managing all events and fundraisers in the Hampton Roads and Richmond markets. She also has an impressive history with events held in the City of Chesapeake, including managing the popular Chesapeake Wine Festival and the Tap! Tap! Craft Beer Festival. Both of these local festivals have raised thousands of dollars for Hampton Roads non-profits and charitable organizations.
