Jack Hornbeck, President and CEO of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, has released the following statement in reaction to the passage of comprehensive, long-term transportation funding plan by the General Assembly.
“The Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce is pleased by the passage of a comprehensive transportation funding plan. Transportation funding has been the Chamber’s top legislative priority for many years, and this plan, a necessary compromise, will help ensure the region’s mobility and economic growth.
We applaud Governor McDonnell for his leadership on this historic legislation. We also thank the entire Hampton Roads General Assembly delegation who worked to develop a bi-partisan funding plan that finally allows the Commonwealth to address its failing transportation infrastructure.
The Chamber had insisted that our elected officials view the transportation crisis with urgency and work in a bipartisan manner in crafting a solution. The business community was united on the need for action on this critical issue.”
