Chamber Hosts 21st Annual Virginia Beach Armed Forces Awards Luncheon
Nearly 250 members of the business community honored local military personnel at the 21st Annual Virginia Beach Armed Forces Awards Luncheon held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center on July 31

HM1 Macias JasminNearly 250 members of the business community honored local military personnel at the 21st Annual Virginia Beach Armed Forces Awards Luncheon held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center on July 31. During the program, nearly 90 men and women in uniform were recognized for their outstanding achievements. All award recipients are stationed at commands in Virginia Beach including Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story (JEBLCFS), Naval Air Station Oceana, and Camp Pendleton. Remarks were provided by Command Master Chief Eric Clark, Captain Christopher Chope, Mayor Will Sessoms and Virginia Beach Chamber Chair-Elect Glen Robertson.

“The Chamber is pleased and honored to host the Virginia Beach Armed Forces Awards Luncheon for those receiving awards from the many commands located in the city,” said Ira Agricola, Executive Vice President at the Hampton Roads Chamber. He added, “This event brings together the military community and the business community in celebration of achievement and spirit of community.”

“It’s an absolute honor for me to be here on this 21st annual Virginia Beach Armed Forces Awards Ceremony,” said Virginia Beach Mayor Will Sessoms. “We can’t do enough for these fine people.”

Virginia Beach Mayor Will SessomsMichael Camden, Enrollment Coordinator at Troy University Global Campus, said, “It’s exciting to get to know these individuals on a more personal basis and see their reaction as they truly do see the value in the collaboration between the local cities, the businesses and the military.”

“I was so honored to win Senior Sailor of the Year for Branch Health Clinic,” said HM1 Macias Jasmin. “It was so nice to see everyone all together and it was my lucky day because in addition to being recognized, I also won the Samsung Galaxy tablet donated by USA Discounters.”
