Strengthening & Sustaining a Skilled Workforce through Community College Partnerships

National Apprenticeship Week 2017

Attracting qualified applicants and developing highly skilled employees are challenges for every business. However, it is also an absolute necessity for Hampton Roads employers striving to remain competitive and prosperous. Fortunately, employers do not have to meet these challenges alone.

Tidewater Community College's Apprenticeship Institute and Center for Workforce Solutions will host Strengthening & Sustaining a Skilled Workforce through Community College Partnerships on Monday, November 13, 2017 at the Portsmouth Campus Student Center to share the array of strategies an employer can pursue to meet their needs.  Both college and industry leaders will provide an overview of the college’s capacity to support the unique training and education needs of individual employers, share examples of recent industry partnerships, and identify potential resources to help offset education and training costs.  Topics will include:

·        - Sustaining a Skilled Workforce through Academic Pathways

·         - Developing Talent on the Job through Apprenticeship and Internship

·         - Using Customized Workforce Training to Fill Existing Skills Gaps

Access to a skilled workforce is absolutely critical to any employer’s success. Join us as we discuss how companies have met this challenge by partnering with their local community college and learn what strategies are available to meet a company’s workforce needs.
