The Hampton Roads Chamber and Hampton Roads Military and Federal Facilities Alliance are hosting From Macro to Micro: The 2016 Defense Budget and Beyond on September 29 at the Chesapeake Conference Center. Recognizing that the Department of Defense spending is the largest economic driver in Hampton Roads, the defense budget is a defining issue in the local business community. This briefing will provide the most up-to-date information and current trends in U.S. defense spending from content experts as it impacts the national, state and local economy. The forum will be a major draw for not only the business community, but for military commanders, elected officials, and community leaders. Speakers will take questions from the audience.

John provides strategic advice and tactical assistance to clients to help them plan and carry out legislative activities needed to achieve their objectives.

John C. Harvey, Jr., Commonwealth Secretary of Veterans & Defense Affairs

A retired U.S. Navy Admiral, Harvey served as the 31st Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command in Norfolk from July 2009 to September 2012.  As Secretary, Harvey is responsible for the oversight of all veterans-related issues in Virginia, executed through the Department of Veteran Services, and ensuring that a productive relationship is maintained with the military services and Department of Defense activities located within the Commonwealth.  Secretary Harvey also leads Governor McAuliffe's initiatives focused on military communities to ensure that Virginia remains the base and installation location of choice and is the most “military-friendly” state in the nation.
