Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce Receives National Award for Communications Excellence

Hampton Roads, VA – The Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce is a recipient of the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) Award for Communications Excellence.  The Chamber’s website, www.HamptonRoadsChamber.com, received a Silver Award.

The Silver Award surpasses the fundamental standards and criteria of communications excellence.  Winners were recognized at the annual ACCE convention on August 4, in Los Angeles, Ca.  This year’s Award for Communications Excellence competition drew 83 entries from chambers throughout the U.S.

“There is truly exceptional communications work being done in the chamber profession, and ACCE is proud to recognize these achievements,” said ACCE President Mick Fleming.

“We are thrilled and proud to receive this award from our national professional organization,” said Jack Hornbeck, Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce President & CEO.  He added, “In 2010, our Chamber launched a new website.  The former website needed to be overhauled, from its appearance and content, to the usability and maintenance.  Data showed that nine months after launching the Chamber’s new website, 2,620 more people visited the site monthly and 84 more people visited daily.  This award is a reflection of the hard work and professionalism of the Chamber’s staff and Tim Bradshaw of Insercorp.”

In 2009, the Chamber obtained the services of local Chamber member Bradshaw-Kimbrel Technology Group, LLC, which incorporated as Insercorp LTD in 2010.  The Franklin-based website and marketing services company, designed and developed the Chamber's new website to be visually appealing, user-friendly, and reflect the Chamber's new branding.

The Awards for Communication Excellence is an annual competition that recognizes excellence in all areas of communications.  Celebrating its 28th year, the Awards for Communication Excellence continues to be the vehicle for the chamber community to promote effective chamber communications, as well as highlight initiatives, introduce events, and inform members.
