Chesapeake is the newest U.S. location for Laurence Walter Aerospace Solutions (LWAS), a subsidiary of U.K. headquartered MEL Group, LTD – a full service provider of engineering solutions to the aerospace and defense related industries.  This expansion means an initial capital investment of $1 million and 10 jobs anticipated within 6 months.  The 9,500 square foot facility located at 1105-A International Plaza in Chesapeake will also serve as a U.S. sales office.  Civil airline customers include British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Monarch, BMI and Saudi Arabian airlines.  UK MOD and BAE Systems are among the company’s military customers. 

The LWAS expansion announcement was made on August 3 by the Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance, a partner of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce.
