Our Mission

As a not-for-profit, member-based business organization, the mission of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce is to serve its members and communities by creating economic prosperity and enhancing the quality of life in the region.

Since 1801, the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce has been building a stronger economy and a better business community.  The Chamber represents nearly 2,000 member companies that employ more than 280,000 working men and women. The Chamber extends its programs to 17 cities and counties in Southeastern Virginia.

Public Policy

The Chamber provides leadership in articulating business viewpoints in the public arena and strives to be the region’s primary source of information about business issues. Through the work of our legislative steering committees, local divisions and administrative staff, the Chamber works on issues which will create and maintain a healthy climate for doing business in Hampton Roads.

Economic Development

The Chamber strives to improve our local economy by working with the Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance to attract new business to the area, by helping existing businesses to expand, by working with partners to improve the local workforce, promote amateur sports events and provide leadership training.

Service to Business

The Chamber offers networking opportunities, educational programs, cost-saving employee benefit programs, marketing tools and other services to fill the needs of our business members and contribute to measurable growth for them.
