AllStar Photobooth LLC should be selected as a Winner of the Top to Watch because of the focus on believing in ourselves and believing that small businesses make Significant Strides for Success...for the Clients, in Business, and in the Community. In August 2014, AllStar Photobooth LLC had no customers, no photography mentors, and no rental bookings. By April of 2015, we increased the amount of photo booth equipment due to the demand for rental requests that could not previously be fulfilled with just one set of equipment. As of February 2017, AllStar Photobooth LLC has booked 267 events and has photographed thousands of guests from infants to age 90 and gained several event industry mentors. The events that occur could not happen without the AMAZING TEAM of individuals who enthusiastically serve as independent Photo Booth Specialist and help implement events not only across all of Hampton Roads but around the Commonwealth of Virginia. The ability to focus on a plan, a marketing strategy and participating in activities and educational opportunities related to networking, business training, and professional development have helped the business continuously grow.
In addition to making the photo or video booth experience fun for all, AllStar Photobooth LLC is accessible for all to use. Everyone who works with AllStar Photobooth LLC enjoys working with clients from diverse backgrounds at private, public, school, non-profit and corporate events. I am excited to share that we have also been able to provide discounted or in-kind donations of resources, staff and supplies when possible to 23 non-profits.
AllStar Photobooth LLC should win because the goal in business and life is to make sure that EVERYONE has an opportunity to have memorable moments of fun and I truly believe that EVERYONE deserves a chance to Stop, Smile & Strike a Pose with AllStar Photobooth LLC!
AND ONE Marketing Group is a small, women-owned Digital Marketing and PR Company. We create customized, integrated digital marketing strategies for companies that increase brand awareness. We are owned and operated by natives of the Hampton Roads area and focus on developing relationships and partnerships with local businesses and organizations. We are fully committed to our clients and believe in complete transparency.
Both Peyton and Renée contributed entirely to the planning, establishment, and current operation of the business. When the concept of AND ONE was still in the planning phases, we both were committed to making an impact on the Hampton Roads community. Our goal was to provide local, quality services to businesses in the region.
While both of us come from similar backgrounds and have the same desired goals for the business, we have very different strengths and weaknesses. It was important to first determine what our individual strengths and weaknesses were and then formulate a business plan that would best set up AND ONE for success.
Within our first 6 months of operation, we are a profitable business. We have worked on a successful Mayoral re-election campaign, been “Scouted” for The Scout Guide magazine, and have acquired many local and regional customers in a variety of industries. Government contracting companies, political campaigns, authors, non-profits, business organizations, home care services companies are just some of the industries that fall under our client umbrella. While our initial growth came from grassroots networking and marketing efforts, we also now rely heavily on our referrals. We have a near 100% repeat customer rate and recently obtained our SWAM (and almost officially EDWOSB) status.
It is important to us that we as individuals as well as our business positively impacts the area. We are involved in many both professional and charitable organizations in the area. As a company, we completed a few major projects as in-kind donations, including building new websites for the Judeo-Christian Outreach Center and Go Rescue Pet Adoption.
Other goals built into our founding include:
• Establish a women mentorship program for area college students to encourage entrepreneurship
We also partner with organizations such as CBDA (Central Business District Association) and HRC (Hampton Roads Chamber) whose goal it is to grow Hampton Roads’ business community.
Coelacanth Brewing Company opened it’s doors on December 12, 2015, after two years of planning and development, including a year-long renovation of a derelict warehouse in the heart of Ghent - close to Downtown Norfolk, the lively NEON Arts District and within a short distance of all of the most popular attractions in Norfolk. We're not huge - and we aren't owned by a big company - or even a bunch of investors. We are Family and Employee Owned.
Currently employing 9 associates with plans to hire at least 5 more in the coming year, all of our Beer is made on-site on our 15 Barrel Brewing system - that's 465 gallons of well-crafted beer every time we brew.
Why we should win:
•We support other small Local Businesses in the area. All our professional services are provided by small local businesses (Insurance, Payroll, Accounting, Legal). We seek to partner with local providers of goods and services whenever possible.
•We promote local restaurants in the Ghent business district and provide menus from these restaurants for our patrons in the Brewery tasting room.
•We have worked with Mermaid Winery to create a signature beer for the winery that was aged in Pinot Noir casks. We worked with The Aroma Therapy Shoppe to develop a line of hop-infused Beard & Moustache balms and tonics. We worked with Java Surf to create a coffee-based beer.
•Every Thursday we host “T-SHIRT THURSDAY” – and give discounts to anyone wearing a t-shirt from any local business, including local breweries.
•We are proud to be Hampton Roads’ FIRST and ONLY VA DEQ Certified Green Brewery (and one of only 12 in the State) as well as the FIRST Hampton Roads Dominion Green Power certified Brewery.
•We were recently awarded the “Virginia Green Travel Leader Award” recognizing us for our efforts!
•We are the only Brewery in the 7 Cities to be listed as “LGBT Friendly” on the “Virginia Is For Lovers” website.
•We have hosted fundraising events for a variety of local socially conscious organizations including the Wetlands Watch, Junior League of Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Alzheimer’s Association – Southeastern Virginia Chapter, Sierra Club, PETA, Norfolk Animal Care Center, VegFest, and Virginia Green Alliance.
•We provide free meeting space to local charities
•We offer discounts to First Responders in the Hampton Roads area (Police, Fire and Emergency Services). Discounts are also available to teachers in the Hampton Roads area.
•On the last Sunday of each month, we host “Beer Is Art.” We host the work of a different artist, whose work is displayed for the following month. We do not take profit from sales of the Artists’ work.

Integrity Security began operations in June of 2014 with one security officer and Ms. Tracy Link, operating out of a spare bedroom in her home. Within in a few months of her starting, Tracy was up to 7 security officers, and she moved her operation to the converted garage/den. And in January of 2016, Integrity Security took over 1,200 square feet of office space in Midtown Portsmouth that includes a classroom for training of security personnel.
The clients of Integrity Security seek a multitude of security services, but the primary focus of the business has been on community relations between tenants, visitors, and security personnel.
From culturally focused communication skills to the de-escalation of incidents, the objective is on creating a safe environment for everyone, whether an apartment community or a shopping center or any facility requiring interaction with people and security personnel.
With an ever-growing team of over 20 security officers and a team focused environment, Integrity continues to grow, seeking the best solutions for her clients while changing the outcomes of her employees.
The Oozlefinch Craft Brewery has been opened since September 2016. We are a locally owned brewery that strives to provide the Hampton Roads area with the best craft beer with the most historically unique atmosphere on the east coast.
We hope to win the Top 5 to Watch in Hampton Roads because we love the Hampton Roads area! We are striving to encourage community and idea sharing, hoping to be a big part of revitalizing the historical significance of breweries in the United States. By having such a family friendly brewery in a deeply rooted historical area, it gives us a chance to teach a bit of history ourselves and bring a growing interest to Fort Monroe.
Wasserhund’s mission is to encourage those around us to eat, drink, and enjoy good company by doing the following three actions: being a conduit of good times with those around us over excellent pizza and beer, providing an example of German drinking culture by crafting (mostly) German beers, blessing other as we have been blessed by giving 5% of Wasserhund’s taproom revenue to charity (regardless of company profits).
Why should Wasserhund win Top 5 to Watch in Hampton Roads?
Wasserhund Brewing Company is one of the Top 5 to Watch in Hampton Roads because we have already shown in the year and half of being open that we are going to grow and put our mark into Hampton Roads. We expanded from a 2 BBL system to a 30 BBL system in the first year, even though it was a part of our five-year plan. We are looking at opportunities outside of our current taproom to grow our recognition in the area with distribution and will begin canning in April. We have also committed and delivered on being a service to our community. We have given over $50,000, since opening, to local charities in our area that make a positive impact.
