In March, several members voiced their concerns to the Chamber about the poor condition of I-64 and I-264 in the Norfolk and Virginia Beach corridors.
In a written letter, the Chamber’s President & CEO Jack Hornbeck explained to Hampton Roads District Administrator Dennis Heuer that, “We believe that this situation not only has an adverse impact on the image we want to project to business prospects and to thousands of seasonal visitors, but our business owners and residents are also now dealing with damage to their vehicles.”
The Chamber understands the fiscal stress the Commonwealth is facing, but is encouraging the state and VDOT to begin to identify the necessary funds to repair these two interstates.
