What are the greatest obstacles and/or challenges that your business has faced? How have you and your business overcome them?

One of our greatest assets is also one of our greatest obstacles.  For a retreat facility we provide an excellent opportunity to get away from the day to day distractions.  Being off the beaten path requires us to vigilent in our efforts to market the center.  Making sure potential clients know about us and the services we offer.

What accomplishments are you most proud of?

Being a debt free non-profit providing a safe camping experience for youth in Southeast Virginia and providing an affordable conference facility for citizens of Virginia.

What do you see for the future of your business?

Growth.  We are currently working on capital improvements at the center to renovate our current facilities and are looking to partner with others to provide new facilities.  We hope to add a climbing wall to our pool this year, perhaps adding camping/rv facilities as well as new outdoor recreation facilities like repelling and zip lines.  We look forward to our special events throughout the year such as our Valentine's Dinner, Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, Mother's Day Luncheon, Christmas Open House, Breakfast with Santa, and New Years Eve Resolution Revolution.  We are hoping to add to this list this year with a Zombie hunt/ball for Halloween!

Why are you a member of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce?

The opportunities it allows us to network within our community.  Being able to share our mission with those businesses that want to make Hampton Roads a better community.
