5K & 1-MILE DOGGY DASH BRINGS TOGETHER PETS AND THEIR PEOPLE TO SUPPORT CHESAPEAKE HUMANE SOCIETY (CHS) AT AN “OUT OF THIS WORLD” EVENT.

Chesapeake, VA— “May the Fur-th Be With You!” The Chesapeake Humane Society (CHS) will host its annual 5K & 1-Mile Doggy Dash on May 4th, 2019 at Chesapeake City Park. Proceeds from the event support the programs of Chesapeake Humane Society, a 501(c)3 nonprofit. From 9 AM to Noon on Saturday, May 4th, two and four-legged guests will enjoy live music by Red Stapler Duo, craft beer from Hardywood Park Craft Brewery, and food from a local food truck as they gear up to run, walk, or stroll the 5K or 1-Mile course. This event is family-friendly and open to all ages.

The unique race allows participants to run with or without their dog and encourages dressing to theme. This year, the outer spaced themed event promises to include lots of pets and their people in costume for “May The Fur-th.” Registration includes a race t-shirt, finisher medal, and 1 beer ticket. Runners and walkers are encouraged to fundraise with their friends and family to make an even greater impact for the animals who depend on Chesapeake Humane Society’s programs.

The 5K & 1-Mile Doggy Dash brings animal lovers together each year to enjoy the outdoors while supporting the Chesapeake Humane Society. The event is held in partnership with the City of Chesapeake Parks, Recreation and Tourism. To learn more or to register for the 5K or 1-Mile race, visit www.chesapeakehumane.org/5K. About the Chesapeake Humane Society:

Founded in 1972, Chesapeake Humane Society is a non-profit organization that is funded by private donors; it does not receive government subsidies. CHS supports the homeless animals of Hampton Roads through a variety of programs including low-cost spay or neuter, vaccination, soft tissue procedures and dental services; providing financial assistance to shelter animals with immediate medical needs; and participating in off-site adoption events to advertise adoptable pets. CHS’s mission is to promote the welfare of companion animals through programs and initiatives that reduce pet overpopulation, increase adoption and encourage responsible pet guardianship through affordable pet care.
