Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia
City of Chesapeake for 55 and Better Comprehensive Plan Project

Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia and the City of Chesapeake have started the development of a plan for services for persons 55+. This will be part of the City’s Comprehensive Plan.  Chesapeake citizens ages 55+ are a big portion of the population. By 2040, the population 55+ in Chesapeake will be over 87,000.

The Plan will discuss:

  • Health Care
  • Financial Stability and Safety
  • Transportation
  • Housing
  • Quality of Life

Senior Services wants hear from you about what you think is important. We want to hear from people of all ages. You may already be 55+ or may know for someone who is 55+. You may care about what our community will be like for when you are a senior and this plan will serve as a guide for making decisions that will ensure a livable community for all ages.

To complete a survey about the plan visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/N9QP6VX

All answers are confidential and the only information that will be published is a summary. You may pick up a written copy of the survey at any Chesapeake Public Library or the Park and Recreation Center between April 24 and May 1.

There will be several public discussions about the project and they are open to the public. The first discussion will be from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Camelot Community Center on Monday, April 28. The second event will be from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Western Branch Community Center on Thursday, May 1.
