The Affordable Care Act (ACA) adds new protections for health coverage. Some of these changes are already in effect, with most of the remaining changes taking effect in January 2014. If you have health coverage through an employer plan, there are a number of new protections. For example: the extension of dependent coverage to age 26, coverage of certain preventive services with no co-pay and a prohibition on pre-existing condition exclusions and lifetime and annual limits.
When key parts of the Affordable Care Act take effect in 2014, there also will be a new way to buy health insurance – the Health Insurance Marketplace. The marketplace will offer health coverage options for those with no health coverage as well as those with coverage through an employer plan. Open enrollment begins October 1, 2013.
This webcast will provide timely information on the new protections for your health coverage and the health insurance marketplace to help you make informed decisions. The Department of Labor will discuss the impact of the Affordable Care Act on your employment-based group health plan. The Department of Health and Human Services will provide information on the new health insurance marketplace. Join us to find out more about the Affordable Care Act and what is already available to help you, or will be shortly, as well as what you can expect in 2014.
