The Hampton Roads Chamber Welcomes New Trustee Member, Food Lion
Food Lion celebrates the completion of a $168 million investment in more than 100 remodeled stores

“Yes, we sell food but it’s more about the community,” said Benny Smith, Media & Community Relations Manager of Food Lion. The Hampton Roads Chamber was honored to be a part of the grand re-opening for new Trustee Member, Food Lion. On Wednesday, August 29th, Food Lion will unveil its new and improved shopping experience to the public in the Greater Norfolk-Area.

As part of Food Lion’s grand re-opening, Meg Ham, President of Food Lion, announced they have made a $168 million capital investment in its 105 fully remodeled stores across Hampton Roads and the surrounding areas. The remodeling includes the hiring of over 4,000 additional associates and hundreds of thousands of donations to the area’s food banks. Ham also announced its partnership with the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore and the Virginia Peninsula Food Bank to purchase mobile pantries to help eliminate hunger and help families in need in remote locations.

The grand re-opening celebrations will continue on August 29th. The first 100 customers in line at any of the remodeled stores, will received a free tote bag and mystery gift card valued anywhere between $10 and $200.
