When Stephanie Gorham was a struggling single mom living in Wichita Falls, Texas, the relief and encouragement she received from local nonprofits inspired her to want to do similar work someday. Then, while working and studying at Midwestern State University (also in Wichita Falls), she headed up the school’s United Way campaign and discovered how rewarding it is to raise money to help those in need.
“I had worked my way up to an administrative position, loved the people I worked with and the community feel on campus,” she said, but “I decided to graduate and go to work for a nonprofit. I was kind of on a high!”
“I love being part of the nonprofit world and I don’t think I will ever leave it.”
