MacArthur Center Launches Programs In Response to Government Shutdown
New Initiatives to help the Community.

MacArthur Center has launched a series of initiatives to help our community, and specifically the Coast Guard, in response to the government shutdown.

Many of our citizens are struggling now and that’s why we are accepting donations for the Foodbank, which serves all citizens of Hampton Roads. Our additional efforts directly support the U.S. Coast Guard, as it is the only branch of the United States military un-funded at this time.

Here are the efforts happening at MacArthur Center:

 ●        Foodbank donation boxes will be set up by Guest Services on Level One to collect food for all those affected by the government shutdown.

California Pizza Kitchen will hold a Pizza with a Purpose event starting January 18 and running through the end of the shutdown; guests simply need to show a flyer or a picture of the flyer and 20% of their meal check will be donated to the Coast Guard Mutual Assistance.

Ten MacArthur Center restaurants and food court vendors have created $7 and under meal offers for anyone presenting a valid Coast Guard ID.

A link has been added to the homepage of to help collect financial donations for the Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (CGMA).  Additionally, MacArthur Center and Starwood Retail Partners are making a $1,000 donation to the Coast Guard Mutual Assistance and the coins in the fountain in Grand Court will be donated as well.  CGMA is the official relief society of the U.S. Coast Guard.
