Since assuming the presidency in 2008, Raúl Castro has been focused on updating Cuba’s economic model to encourage sustainable growth. An economic reform will catalyze growth in both the domestic private sector and in foreign investments, which will only increase the revitalization that has been seen in the months following the death of Fidel Castro. Such growth will allow for Cuba to flourish in economic opportunities. The Hampton Roads Chamber will be hosting Dr. James V. Koch, President Emeritus at Old Dominion University, to speak on the “State of Cuba” at the LEAD Alumni Quarterly Breakfast. Dr. Koch prides himself on his many published books and journals that focus on the economics of e-commerce and applied microeconomics. Dr. Koch will analyze Cuba’s current and future economic opportunities. This Quarterly Breakfast will also serve as the LEAD Alumni Meeting, where the Chamber will be presenting the 2017 Chair of the LEAD Board of Trustees.
