Small Business of the Year Winner will Receive Gift Package Valued at $10,000 Awards. For 29 years, the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce has recognized one exceptional small business owner for his or her tireless work and embodiment of the spirit of enterprise. Six finalists, one from each Southside city and one from the Penninsula, will compete for the title. Last year, A-Active Termite & Pest Control in Virginia Beach, was awarded the 2012 Hampton Roads Small Business of the Year. The overall winner will receive a gift package from the Chamber valued at $10,000.
Nominations are also being accepted for the "Top 10 to Watch." Start-ups and businesses that will be considered must be a Hampton Roads for-profit emerging business with fewer than 99 employees, in business for five years or less as of January 1, 2013.
The Impressions in Print Leadership Award will be presented to an individual demonstrating leadership, impact on workplace culture, community service and involvement, professional achievement, and perseverance.
And the Young Entrepreneur Award (YEA!), will be awarded to a standout young entrepreneur in the Hampton Roads region. The award recognizes young entrepreneurs who have taken the risk of starting and running their own business in Hampton Roads.
