"The opening of the new Cox Solutions store in Portsmouth shows a commitment to enriching the lives of Hampton Roads residents as well as helping the business community succeed and grow," said Bryan Stephens at the grand opening and ribbon cutting at 1601 Frederick Blvd in Portsmouth on Saturday, January 28th.
The Cox Solutions store is the last piece to the mid-town shopping plaza in Portsmouth. The city has been working with Bruce Berlin, the managing partner of Venture Reality on the development project for the last five years. The new Cox Solutions store, the largest of its kind in the country, joins a Kroger Marketplace, TJ MAXX, and other retailers. "This is now a landmark in Portsmouth," said J.D. Myers, Sr. Vice President & Region Manager of Cox Communications. Myers noted Cox made an million dollar investment in Portsmouth with this store.
The opening drew a large crowd, including Portsmouth Mayor, John Rowe, and Delegate Steve Heretick. Mayor Rowe and Delegate Heretick joined J.D. Myers and Hampton Roads Chamber President and CEO Bryan Stephens in giving remarks to the crowd. "This is what we in public office live for, work for, and dream for," said Delegate Heretick. Noting the economic impact the Cox Solutions store will bring to the mid-town shopping plaza and the city of Portsmouth, Mayor Rowe expressed his gratitude to Cox Communications, "thank you for investing in the city."
