The Hampton Roads Chamber is pleased to support Senator Mark Warner at the Virginia 21 event at Old Dominion University Friday, June 16. Senator Warner urged millennials and young professional to get involved and to get engaged in Virginia activities. Warner started these youth summits in 2011 to bridge across the commonwealth.
Senator Warner offered an update on what is happening with Russia as “the most complex problem he is currently working on.” What we know for a fact combined with unanimous opinion of intelligence committee is Russians have been breaking into legislators accounts in other countries prior to this and planted bad postings on other countries leaders’ sites. Russia is pro spreading chaos and hacked into both democrat and republican websites.
Russians were manipulating the internet by creating fake accounts and pushing false information out to the public. There was no evidence Russians changed any voter totals, but it seems that the Russians underlying goal was to make Americans question our democratic system.
Senator Warner is urging millennials to tell the difference between real and fake news.
Senator Warner also discussed how the workforce is changing. People are not staying at jobs long and investors are only keeping their money in for an average of four months. America needs to focus on investing in human capitol and training rather than only focusing on short term profit.
