Sustainable Seafood Fest Celebrates Ocean-Friendly Food
On May 22, twenty-five restaurants and businesses showcased their cuisine at the 5th annual Virginia Aquarium Sensible Seafood Fest sponsored by PNC Bank. Over 700 guests gathered to sample succulent dishes while learning about sustainable practices.

Since 2008, the Sustainable Seafood Program has promoted “seafood choices that make sense for a healthy marine environment.” So far, 75 local businesses have partnered with the Virginia Aquarium to provide more ocean-friendly menu options. The program aims to combat over-fishing by encouraging people to buy local, carry their Sensible Seafood Pocket Guide, and support their partners.

Congratulations to the 2014 festival winners: Wickers Crab Pot (People’s Choice), Hot Tuna (Critic’s Choice), and Distinctive Gourmet (Green Plate).
