Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce Urges Members of Virginia Senate to Pass the State Budget Bill

On March 5, as part of a statewide effort, the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce signed a letter, along with more than 20 additional business organizations, urging Virginia’s elected officials to end the current deadlock and reach a timely agreement on the state’s two-year budget.

Jack Hornbeck, CCE, President & CEO of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, said, “If a budget is not passed, the Hampton Roads Chamber is concerned that Virginia’s position as the best managed state in the country will be jeopardized.”

The Hampton Roads Chamber, representing nearly 2,000 member businesses which employ 280,000 men and women in the region, applauds the work that has been done in the General Assembly to develop a state budget that promotes job creation, economic development and entrepreneurship.  The Chamber recognizes this is a difficult task considering the economic challenges facing the state and the nation, as well as the differing partisan views regarding funding to programs and services.
