A to Active Termite and Pest Control Company Wins Hampton Roads Small Business of the Year

(from left) Jeff Richardson, Vice Chair, Small Business, Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce; Kevin Kordek, A-Active Termite and Pest Control Company; Jack Hornbeck, Chamber President & CEO The 28th annual Hampton Roads Small Business of the Year (SBOY) Awards luncheon was held May 22 at the Founders Inn with more than 300 people in attendance.  The event, held during National Small Business Week, featured guest speaker Joel Erb, whose first company, INM United, was formed after he met with clothing moguls Calvin Klein, Giorgio Armani and Hugo Boss to pitch and present his website designs - at the age of 14.  Now at 27, Erb is the president/CEO of two major businesses.  Erb provided invaluable advice to all of the entrepreneurs in the room. “Follow your passions,” Erb said.  “Listen to your gut and listen to your internal compass and do what you love.”

Accepting the award for the company was Kevin Kordek, President and CEO. “Winning this award has totally reenergized our company to continue to do what we do and to continue to do it well,” said Kordek.  “A-Active is proud to represent the Hampton Roads Community.”

A-Active Termite and Pest Control Company was Virginia Beach’s 2012 Small Business of the Year as well, and was chosen for the regional award from an excellent pool of city winners including:
