KNIT ONE, PURL 1,125+

Last year, 1,125 Knit in Public events were held in 54 different countries. And though global, World Wide Knit in Public Day is driven, organized and hosted by community volunteers. This year, WWKIPDAY is Saturday, June 9, and locally hosted by the Tidewater Knitting Guild of Virginia.

From 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., novices and experts alike are invited to knit together. While the origin of the name denotes that it’s all about knitting, over the years WWKIPDAY has become an inclusive event for all fiber lovers - spinners and weavers will also be participating. Bring knitting needles, yarn and if you have any questions, the Tidewater Knitting Guild of Virginia members will be available to talk about the craft.

Some of the Guild’s members will be making beanies and blankets, which will be donated to Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters. The event is also part of MacArthur Center’s award winning and interactive initiative called Live 360°, a well-rounded program of fun and inspirational opportunities that provide our community with ways to connect.
