The blue shirts rounded the corner and stared down the final 100 yards. On the left and right, the crowd cheered and applauded.
Then, at 5:25 pm on a chilly Monday in late October, over a dozen Marathon Consulting employees (clad in company t-shirts) burst through a finish line of blue and white streamers to celebrate the grand opening of its new office in Virginia Beach.
With a name like "Marathon," the company had to stage a creative grand opening, right? So they asked several team members to collectively run a marathon (26.2 miles) through the city's Town Center business district. Each person covered about two miles and the entire group ended the race surrounded by other Marathon employees and our wonderful clients.
After the run, Marathon partner Harris Pezzella addressed the crowd and introduced two special guests: Virginia Beach Mayor Will Sessoms and King's Daughters Executive Director Lisa Coleman. Marathon is honored to have raised over $1,000 (through the marathon run) to help King's Daughters purchase a rolling pediatric/neonatal intensive care unit. And the company beamed with pride when Mayor Sessoms pointed out, "I have been to a lot of grand openings, but this one is the most creative."
Cheers to a new era for Marathon Consulting!
