Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce to Hold its Annual Meeting of the Membership on December 8
Secretary of the United States Navy to Serve as Keynote Speaker


The 26th Annual Meeting of the Membership is the Chamber’s premier annual event. This event is Hampton Roads’ largest gathering of elected officials and business leaders, with more than 700 expected. The Chamber will recognize outgoing and incoming volunteer leadership and present its 2010 Volunteer of the Year Award.



The Secretary of the United States Navy, Ray Mabus, will serve as the Keynote Speaker. Mabus leads America's Navy and Marine Corps and is responsible for an annual budget in excess of $150 billion and almost 900,000 people. The Secretary of the Navy is responsible for conducting all the affairs of the Department of the Navy, including recruiting, organizing, supplying, equipping, training, and mobilizing. Additionally, he oversees the construction, outfitting, and repair of naval ships, equipment and facilities, and is responsible for the formulation and implementation of policies and programs that are consistent with the national security policies and objectives established by the President and the Secretary of Defense.
