Senator Frank Wagner delivered the keynote address and joined the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce in honoring 33 service men and women for their contributions to the community.

“Today we pay tribute to some of the most giving, caring, selfless men and women in our nation” said Bryan K. Stephens, CEO and President of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce as he addressed the crowd at the Military Citizen of the Year Award Luncheon on Friday, October 7th.

The Military Citizen of the Year Award Luncheon took place at the Norfolk Waterside Marriot and honored 33 service men and women for their contributions to the community. “I am humbled to be here to recognize the sailors, airmen, coastguard, and army men that have contributed back to our local Hampton Roads region” said Senator Frank Wagner, keynote speaker. Senator Wagner emphasized the importance of leading from the front, recognizing those individuals who not only exceed expectations, “day in and day out in the military, but also take their time, effort and skill sets in the community.”

With well over 500 hours of volunteer time, Petty Officer Second Class Breanna Coleman, United States Navy, was selected by members of the Chamber’s Armed Forces Committee to receive the distinguished Military Citizen of the Year Award. “Volunteering has always been a part of my life, growing up I was taught if you have the means to bless someone else then do so” said Coleman.

Congratulations to all of the nominees and thank you to all of the service men and women who help serve and protect this country each and every day.
