HAMPTON ROADS, VA – Candidates to represent Virginia Beach, the Eastern Shore and parts of Norfolk and Hampton in Congress will take part in a pair of provocative forums this fall, sponsored by leading business organizations in the Hampton Roads region. Participating will be incumbent 2nd District Representative Glenn Nye, Republican nominee Scott Rigell and Independent challenger Ken Golden.
The Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce and its Hampton Roads Business Political Action Committee (HRBizPAC) will host the first event, Monday, September 27 at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott (235 East Main St.), from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Each candidate will appear separately, be given equal time to make an opening statement, field questions from the moderator and take questions from the audience.
On Friday, October 15, the Central Business District Association of Virginia Beach and the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce will co-sponsor an actual debate, from 11:45 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. at The Holiday Inn Executive Center in Virginia Beach (5655 Greenwich Rd.). Veteran television news political reporter and interviewer Joel Rubin will moderate both events.
