What are your business's core values, goals, and overall mission?

Our overall mission at The Studio Hampton Roads is to provide a versatile and modern studio setting that provides photographers, artists and small business owners a professional environment in which to conduct business and develop creative projects.

Whether using The Studio as the perfect backdrop for portrait clients or to host consultations, workshops or other business meetings and get-togethers, The Studio is equipped with a variety of customizable settings and layouts to achieve quality results. Equipped with three fully styled studios, a large common meeting area, two bathrooms, a makeup station, a classroom and modern furniture and decor, The Studio allows local professionals to stage their work flows and events as it best suits their needs and the needs of their clients.

We are committed to excellence and quality in all facets of our business, both before, during and after hosting clients in our versatile meeting space. We aim to provide small business owners from all walks of life with a "pop up shop" avenue to encourage the growth of their own professional ventures and markets. We have a huge heart for our local community here in Hampton Roads and love nothing more than to be able to welcome others to our creative home so that they too can turn their dreams into a reality and career.

Share some unique facts and business history? What makes your business stand out?

By opening up our own creative space to other small business owners (and competitors even), we've offered our community something truly unique. We understand that not every small business owner can afford to invest in their own studio or office space, and being a part of a military community, we know that transient business owners need a safe place to continue growing their markets while knowing they may be transferred to other states or countries at some point in the future. We stand out because we truly believe there is room in the marketplace for everyone. Smart business should include networking, encouraging and supporting other entrepreneurs, even those that directly compete in your target market. We're thrilled to welcome our competitors to our studio space because we are truly inspired to watch them grow and create in a community-minded environment. Offering small space for local independent sales reps or other small groups seeking a home base allows our community to grow as a whole and encourages small business ownership and entrepreneurship.

What products or services do you offer companies or individuals?

The Studio Hampton Roads has a virtually endless list of uses given a little creative thought. Primarily, we offer studio rentals to local photographers in one of our three fully styled spaces. We also offer classroom and small workshop space for independent sales reps, local educators and/or community group get-togethers. We've hosted female leadership teams, book clubs, and even small weddings, bridal and baby showers. Whether it's a gathering of regional reps for a seasonal launch, a coming together of like-minded folks to network and collaborate or a creative environment to capture life's special moments, The Studio can offer rental and office space at affordable pricing.

What are the greatest obstacles and/or challenges that your business has faced? How have you and your business overcome them?

Our greatest challenge is encouraging small business owners to creatively use the space as something other than a photography studio. We continue to diligently share new ways to put the space to great use, encouraging professional peers to consider the space for workshops and other similar uses. Most people who stumble upon us assume we are only available to local photographers, but that couldn't be further from the truth. We're delighted to be a part of organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce, because it provides us a unique opportunity to connect outside of our usual market to share how other professionals can put the available space to great use. We also host local networking groups and female entrepreneur groups to open the door to other industries on a larger scale.

What accomplishments are you most proud of?

We are most proud of having been able to move into a larger location within our first year of business. This past September, we were overwhelmingly blessed to move into a space that is more than 4 times the size of our original studio space. Being able to offer the community an even higher level of service, excellence and creativity to work in serves as our greatest accomplishment as small business owners thus far. Our new location always has room for everyone, hosts a significant amount of options that we simply couldn't offer before, and is turning into a little hub of entrepreneurs and creatives. It's with the support of our community that we were able to make such a big leap so early on in our career and we are humbled and incredibly grateful for the continued loyalty and encouragement. It truly warms our hearts to meet such a need for so many people.

What do you see for the future of your business?

We see the future of our business as continuing to welcome more new clients to The Studio and continuing to serve our loyal returning clients, offering more and more ways to utilize the space creatively and professionally. We're very happy in our current home, but hope that the future may bring us the opportunity to invest in a larger venue to serve Hampton Roads for larger workshops, weddings and rental space needs. From a passion standpoint, we see our future as continuing to engage our local community and foster an environment of support, creativity and collaboration. Our heart truly lies with the Hampton Roads community and as entrepreneurs, we will always work hard to support others in pursuit of their professional dreams.

Why are you a member of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce?

We joined the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce because we value the community environment that it fosters. The HRCC provides a fabulous environment that has helped us to build new professional relationships, provide support to other entrepreneurs and area businesses, and expand our market beyond our regular industry peers. It's challenged us to pursue growth and excellence professionally and personally, and provides limitless resources to learn and grow from the experiences and wisdom of others. We are so grateful for the HRCC and find incredible value as members. Thank you!
