Howard Kanare is President of Koster American Corp., manufacturer of a comprehensive line of building envelope products including waterproofing, concrete repair, moisture control, underlayments, industrial and decorative coatings. Named one of the “Top Ten Most Influential People in the Concrete Industry” by Concrete Construction Magazine, Mr. Kanare moved from Chicago to Virginia Beach to join KOSTER in 2013 and was promoted to President in 2017. He is a nationally-recognized expert in the interaction of concrete floors, floor covering systems, and moisture issues. He was Senior Principal Scientist at the Portland Cement Association / CTLGroup where over the course of 35 years he performed research, testing, forensic consulting, expert witness services, and made advancements in the analysis and characterization of cement and concrete. He performed and supervised hundreds of field and laboratory investigations of construction issues. Long committed to mentoring and technical education, he is widely known for consulting, lecturing, writing, standards development and training for concrete construction. He has authored over 30 technical publications and several books.
He holds a B.S. in Chemistry and M.S. in Materials Science from the University of Connecticut.
